These boxes are made from quartersawn white oak and are unique in that they are mirror images of one another. If you were to rotate the boxes around next to each other, each face is a mirror image of the opposing box. The corners are mitered for a seamless transition of grain from one face to the next and reinforced with keys which get wider from top to bottom. The top and bottom panels are book matched and mirror imaged as well. These two boxes are made from one 2″ thick, quartersawn board. I can reproduce this or any wooden box design upon request. If you are interested in purchasing a similar piece or pair of boxes, please contact me for pricing and availability as I don’t normally make these pieces.
